The Creative Writing Workshop.

As part of my dissertation project during my final year at Bath Spa, I’ve been running creative writing workshops for year six children in Bristol. I started with Parson St Primary School, where I ran a lunch time club twice a week for four weeks. Later I plan to expand my project and teach creative writing in other primary schools in Bristol. I’m also looking into adult learning centres and colleges that may be interested in my workshop.

Over-all I received brilliant feedback from the first school and all the children gave me really positive responses on their anonymous feedback forms. At the moment I’m collating their creative writing pieces and producing an anthology of their work. This will then be available for their parents and teachers to purchase.
I’m also working on a business plan, which I’ll use to assist with the further development of my workshop. I feel that my initial workshop was very successful and so I’m looking forward to researching and planning its future. As well as this I plan to create a promotion pack, which will detail on the workshop, its benefits and any costs involved. This I’ll send to schools and other potential clients, in the hope that they may like to get invovled with creative writing workshop.

Too add to my project’s potential development and professionalism, I requested a logo design for the creative writing workshop. After posting an advert online I received many replies from designers across the UK offering their services and design ideas. After looking through several designs, this is the logo I’ve chosen.

It was designed my Jamayel Ahmed, a local freelance graphic designer. I was really pleased with design as I think it suits my project perfectly. I particularily like the use of colour and how it captures the idea of creative writing. You can view Jamayel's online portfolio by following this link.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of The Creative Writing Workshop and I can't wait to start targeting schools and see where my project takes me.
