Goodbye British summer.

I’m back with an autumnal blog, as this summer I’ve been supremely busy. I’ve completed work experience in film production and in publishing, I’ve worked (for pay!) as a runner and as a model and I’ve been invited back for further work experience with one of the film companies. I’ve also been working part time at The Louisiana, one of Bristol’s most popular music venues. I’m really enjoying working here; the atmosphere is great, as are the people, and I get to watch countless local, national and international live bands. All in all this has been a fun and productive summer!

Tomorrow I go back to Bath Spa for my final year studying for my BA in English Literature and Creative Writing. I’ll be taking modules in Gothic Literature, Shakespeare, Script Writing and The English Project which will act as my dissertation but instead of a very long essay I can put my skills to practical use and work on a business project. I’m excited to go back and I’m really looking forward to all my classes, but I have to admit that going back is quite a daunting prospect; starting my third year is the beginning of the end! This year I volunteered at the Fresher’s Fair advertising SpaLife TV, the web based news show which I present at Bath Spa. It was great to see so many new faces signing up and wanting to get involved, but I couldn’t help but be reminded that next year I won’t be a part of it. On the other hand, time goes on and there’s nothing you can do about it, so onto bigger and better things!

Next July I’ll graduate and I’ll still only be twenty years old, graduation being a couple of days before my 21st birthday. After that I plan to celebrate with style both my 21st and graduation and to travel a little. I’d like to take a trip to somewhere like Italy or Greece with my university friends, then go to Poland to see the sights and visit my boyfriend’s family and then in September finish off the summer nicely with a sun filled, fun packed holiday with my girlfriends to the summer closing parties in Spain or Ibiza! So even though I’ll be leaving behind a massively enjoyable and invaluable chapter of my life, I’ll be keeping busy and making the most of my last student summer. After that it’s onto to interviews, internships, and hopefully the start of my career... fingers crossed!
